Steve, as far as i know you have to instruct your broker to exercise the options...i could be mistaken though. last time i exercised an option was 15 years ago. i always sell them. one time i forgot about a profitable ITM put position on MAN in Frankfurt and they let it expire. i complained and the Broker (Deutsche Bank in this case) paid up.
