Lorrie, re: If you feel that this thread has been violated by this intrusion of Clinton hate-mongering, petty BS and constant conflict, please let me know, [PM or otherwise], and I will no longer participate.

I HATEHATEHATE the intrusion of Clinton hate-mongering, petty BS and constant conflict, but I don't think it's intruded because you participate. Lizzie thought the same thing, that they followed her here. Actually, as I understand it, and this is based only on what Neo and Michael Cummings have said, Neo started posting here because he didn't like the way Michael Cummings was being treated, so he came over here in support, and the rest followed. As Daniel Schuh has pointed out, they usually don't post late at night and on weekends, so the rest of us tend to lie low until then. IMO.

The question in my mind is whether you are engaging them in the Clinton-hate-mongering and petty BS, or they are engaging you. If the former, please do it elsewhere. If the latter, I have no idea on earth how to get them to stop, and am looking forward to a new administration in the year 2001.

As for conflict, it's inescapable when people talk about ideas, but some people simply enjoy needling others without expressing any ideas of their own. Those are the ones that should just be ignored, if possible.

What I feel (imo) isn't as important as what the majority feel. I know other people are heartily sick of everything Clinton (it's been said here before) but I don't know if that's a majority view. My problem with it lately is the points of view of the players are established- this is not discussion, this is merely restatement after restatement of original positions. "Clinton is Scum" "So is everyone else" "Clinton is the worst" "No he's not, you're the worst" etc etc etc

Our movie discussion last night (for example) evolved- and though some of us disagree on movies we aren't fighting about it. That's what I like. There seems no POINT anymore in the political posturing that you and JLA (and a few others) do- or at least I do not see the point (except that it is ritual combat).

Did you read the list posted last night? Do you agree with the movies on the list? What are your favorite movies?

With all the complaining about "the disintegration of the thread" we've been hearing the past few weeks, I would think you'd be a welcome addition.

As an aside I would add that I don't like to bring party politics over here, but that's just me.
