Tuck, YES, I believe that PAIR has won business @ MCI: Here's why....a review of analyst comments over the past quarter. 12/22/99, Raymond James: "We believe the company is currently involved in a number of technical trials including ongoing consideration at MCI Worldcom. While first revenues have slipped, we do not believe this is indicative of a more systemic problem. Instead, we view the slippage as likely related to year-end decision making deferrals complicated by y2K concerns and operator consolidation (w WCOM). 11/23/99, Dain Rauscher: "Over the next several months, we believe incremental news flow should be positive as PairGain announces new Avidia customer wins. Given Avidia's new momentum with WINS AT MCI WORLDCOM, Citizens, and @Link, we believe PairGain represents an inexpensive way for investors to play the rapid growth in the xDSL marketplace." 11/11/99, Dain Rauscher: "Recent carrier wins allow us to project an improvement in Avidia fundamentals next year. More specifically, the RECENT MCI WORLDCOM WIN, in our view validates the product as a significant new product cycle." 11/04/99, Soundview Financial: "We do believe that PAIR has for all practical purposes WON BUSINESS with this important customer (MCI WORLDCOM)and is similarily well positioned at Sprint." 10/15/99, C.E. Unterberg: "....namely the MCI contract that has not been announced yet. We believe that there is some substance to this rumored Avidia contract and for that reason alone have not reduced our estimate." 10/15/99, William Blair & Co.: "After several yet-to-be- proven rumors of an MCI Worldcom contract award, we prefer to wait on the sidelines for an official announcement." 10/14/99, B of A Montgomery Securities: "We continue to believe that PairGain should be in a position to announce this contract, and expect that such an announcement would lead to both upward revisions of revenue and earnings expectations." 10/6/99, Dain Rauscher: "As we have indicated previously, PairGain was selected by MCI Worldcom as THE PRIMARY PROVIDER od DSLAM equipment to the interexchange carrier." 9/13/99, Hambrecht & Quist: " while the contract has not been confirmed we have a very high level of confidence that PairGain is EXCEEDINGLY WELL POSITIONED TO WIN this piece of business." Anyway, there you have it. I think there is a lot of substantive evidence to remain very bullish that in fact an MCI contract exists and simply can't or won't be announced for various reasons. regards, and to a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the PAIR faithful.
