Thanks Bob:
I looked at the regional control settings, and it was set correctly as you indicated. However, I noticed that another option (for the short date) was MM/dd/yyyy. Wouldn't this be better? Or will Newport blow up if I apply that change? I'm not real technical in this respect so pardon my apparent ignorance.

Gave my brother-in-law the book for xmas. He uses apples in his work as a writer. Does Newport come in a version for apples?
