Thanks again.

Schroeder was actually careful not to oppose his European+Russian visions to NATO, while not making clear how he would deal with Russia in this global-bedfellows-scenario -- including Russia into NATO ? I would say that was very unconsidered talking, but it is -strangely- warmly received in German media. Maybe because they hope a relative silence of the chancellor on 'grand projects' is at its' end that would give them more material for furture reporting, interviews, commentaries ... don't scare the guinea pig, let it go proud like the tiger it pretends to be ...

Regards, MNI.

PS: There is no noticeable Y2K mania in Germany - one or two major powerdowns would serve the government well, after they bought out in end November a whole edition of a certain weekly magazine (Die Woche) and republished it with a 'corrected' report on what Y2K could mean to Germans ....
