Ali, RE: The lowest ever winter temperature in Chicago was -27 F (= -33C). ...and I was there. And unlike most of the posters on this thread, I much prefer having cold winters with lots of snow. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I had no winter growing up. I note that a lot of the people that are in CA or FL now grew up with the winter. Perhaps everyone just needs a little change. On the Y2K front, the only things that I have noted thus far are that about 5% credit card machines in Great Britain malfunctioned and Charlotten NC's 911 system shut down. Right now Charlotte is processing 911 calls manually.
