Hi-Michael, NOt to get into a religious discussion- I'm no good at them!-- but I looked at the link and noticed that several of the persecutions mentioned are being committed toward people "of faith" BY people "of faith"!!!
It would seem to be a matter not of unbelievers as much as different believers trying to overcome the others. It all springs from intolerance, no matter who's doing it, but I think we need to be careful not to imply that religious persecution is an atheistic response to religion; too often it is like domestic violence- taking place within the family of believers.
(ANother quote "The principal danger of man is religion.")

Michael, I am against genocide and the persecution of anyone because of their beliefs, and I have said so before. I note that most of the examples of persecution in your link, except in China, were the persecution of a minority religion by the dominant one.

What was bad about Bush bashing Atheists is that there was no public response at all, as there would be if any other group was bashed.
