thanks so much..re the Happy New Year and re the "hoax"
I still set my short day to include the four place year
I didn't think it would cause a crash but I thought even though
there was mention of rollover between 1930 and 2029 that I felt
safer to do it
I don't have windows 95-a couple of people told me that already patched their systems with a microsoft patch
Bobby
ps I still will set the year back one year...for a couple of weeks..
I know it uses system clock etc..but I want to make certain it doesn't screw up certain applications when they use dates..

Happy Millennium folks.

Y2K bug, ...big pile of crap. Fired up the old XT tonight. Set it for Dec 31, 1999 at 23:59. Was expecting the SOB to go to Jan 1, 1900. It went to Jan 1, 2000. The Y2K bug is a pile of bullchit.

a friend who I had mentioned the date to told me today that windows
gets the date from the BIOS..TODAY he told me that the regional settings are usually used for formatting..
he did say that four of their servers crashed..they were only five years old..so they had to change the bios and download some new drivers ..
I am still expecting glitches..here and there..
I am so thankful that all the fear mongers didn't create out and out
panic..
So many people had to work last night..just in case
