OFF-TOPIC BUT RELEVANT Happy New Year, Poet! I hate generalizations. Understanding that context and my age :), any disagreement with one of the "thread elders", even a disagreement with an off-topic rant, will be greeted with much negativity here. Actually, I take a lot of pride in that people disagree with me on a regular basis without any particular reaction. I think I'm an elder here. I also belive I'm not alone in that regard. Though we do have some disagreements in the folder that are to be expected, it's just my opinion from my teensy weensy corner of the universe that disagreement with the thread elders is rarely met with anything that is uncalled for. Piling-on is rather reprehensible behavior. I guess it depends on what you mean by "piling on," but I think the content and demeanor of the thread is important to all of us. I'll always stand in support of DownSouth's position that he should make a special point of reading a person's post who has a track record, in his opinion, of threatening the worthwhileness of the folder. If I write something directed toward a particular person in a public forum, others have the right to address the nature of my presentation and the content I provide even if it is not directed toward them. And frankly, it's my thinking that it's their respsonsibility to do so in order to ensure the highest possible quality of the forum. Just my opinion. But since I'm an elder here, I welcome anyone to disagree with me about this so I can prove that we're for the most part a very large group of people who agree to politely disagree. --Mike Buckley
