I ordered a bunch of new books- one of them is "the golden child"- came highly recommended:

amazon.com

and also a writer I haven't read yet- but the person who recommended him is so similar to me in taste I feel sure I will like him so I ordered everything he has in paperback:

amazon.com

I'll let you know how they are.

Oh, dear, Penni! I certainly did not mean to imply that ALL people who enjoyed partying on New Year's Eve were involved in drunken orgies. It has just always struck me as a wonderful occasion to spend quietly with family members. I cannot really imagine it yet without my child, and yet I know that time is rapidly approaching. I am soaking up every experience I have with her, knowing they are dwindling as she grows into her own life and future.

The book you cited sounds very interesting to me. My daughter did not inherit my love of archaeology and anthropology, but she loves writing like I do, especially poetry. Of course, at sixteen it is a bit difficult to determine finally what interests children have gotten from their parents, as they are still not totally formed. I think she will be an excellent mother, and will certainly breast feed her children in public!

It is just a bit over two months before our birthdays. What do you think the coming year holds for you?
