Never happen. Cisco would not want to buy a poorly run shop that they'd have to divest 90% of, just to get at its optics technology. Also, culturewise it's not a fit. Besides Cisco just bought Pirelli, Cerent & Monterrey to compete in optics, so it is no longer necessary to even think of acquiring Nortel. What else does Nortel have that Cisco might want? Certainly not Bay.

Paul, LU competes with the 2 companies already and will still do 47 billion in revenue this year, earning 1.60 per share. A combination of the 2 would create more problems for CSCO and NT than for LU. All imo. Brian
