Anyone running Pro/E would definetely not be running on overclocked systems. Reliability is a must, a crash (esp if any data is corrupted would cost +++ $ (esp if the errors are not discovered)

Overclocked systems are OK for games where a crash means you lose a chance for a high score, in business the person buying, recommending (or even using) an overclocked system would most likely lose his job when something goes wrong.

I think the author of that benchmark is caught up in doing benchmarks as opposed to real work.

If one takes this into account, and the fact that Pro/E is run by businesses who would most likely make very conservative hardware purchase decisions, recommending an overclocked Athlon system over an Intel one is going way out on a limb.

PB, thanks for the review. Can you speculate on how difficult it will be for AMD to put the L2 on the Athlon core? What time-frame might that be & do you think Williamette can be released at around the same time?
thanks,
Joey

PB - Thanks for the AthWIPER vs Coppermine Pro/Engineer Benchmarks from Anand.

How can a crippled, old P6 core outpace that Brand Spanking New 7'th Degeneration Spry AthWipey ?
