briand, that was a response to telcomguy thinking that LU and NT will take significant share from Cisco in the enterprise, which I don't believe will happen. The Juniper's of the world will get that share before the NT's of the world. So my point was that Cisco may get some carrier share, but it's not likely that NT will get much more enterprise share. The game is already over in that space.

Briand, Cisco's margins will come under severe pressure as everyone from startups to NT/LU attacks them. The result for Cisco is gaining market share at the expense of margins. I expect Cisco's gross margins to fall to 50+ range in 2000, taking stock price down along with the declining margins. NT strategy is to attack them at their core products with high margins, which in turn makes Cisco less aggressive in attacking at the SP markets which is already a 50 % gross margins business. 2000 will be an interesting year to watch.
