Jeff, I recommend you study the fundamentals of QCOM rather than trying to predict the future with TA. TA will reveal to you, perhaps, short term trends and psychology.

Recommend you go to the bookstore right now and buy Geoffrey Moore's "The Gorilla Game" and realize as you read it that QCOM is of that rare breed (Gorilla). It dominates its rapidly growing market (wireless); it posses huge barriers to entry (IPR) with its enabling technology (CDMA); that market has many years of rapid growth ahead.

Despite what the newsmakers say, QCOM is undervalued and will remain so for years to come--just as MSFT and CSCO were during their days in a tornado.

Now, get some rest and stop watching the short term moves. They mean nothing!

TA is excellent at detecting stalls, predicting levels of retracement

we had nice 3/8 retracement at Thanksgiving, another last week to 640 (now 160)... I expect 160 to offer continued support, esp slightly above that level, since now we are not careening down from 740 like last week

the stall is the big pattern I look for... usually we would see a sharp pullback on heavy volume, followed by a weak attempt to reach the same old highs... but it is weak since volume has diminished... then comes a downward mini-spiral... we are not there now... we have awesome momentum

the analogy of an airplane rising, swooping down after a stall, only to attempt another ascent with reduced airspeed is perfect... that second attempt is bound to fail... TA is useful is seeing just stalling effects

I will be watching more closely than ever in the next several days, next several weeks... we got wicked dicey times coming after February, until about May

it is true that TA is not great for longterm views... but it is excellent for me to detect and predict somewhat retracements and bounces
