Jill, good points about JDSU versus DELL situation. There is one fundamental, overriding difference between the two. DELL is in an extremely competitive market, never dominated that market, has no barriers against competition that cannot be copied and/or overcome.

JDSU dominates its market with no serious competition. Its manufacturing technology and scale are significant barriers to entry.

(Dell is a Prince, JDSU is a King, or just maybe, a Gorilla.)

Hi Jill....I was suggesting announcing a 4-1 split when the stock was trading at $320 instead of the current situation of 2-1 at $320 and then (1 week later) 2-1 at $160.

I just questioned the motive of having two back to back 2-1 stock splits. T2's explanation seems plausible but I'm still edgy following the hit I took last year. I was nearly wiped out. And if I learned anything from that experience it is to "question on the side of caution".

Best wishes

Master

Hi Jill...a couple of days ago I questioned the timing of JDSU's 2-1 stock split announcement. Accuse me of being cynical, but I wonder if they had any premature knowledge of LU's warning??

After all, the big boys often dine at the same restaurants and I'm sure that the "ménu-du-jour" isn't always the topic of discussion.

Best wishes,

Master

PS - To all longs, don't worry this will soon blow over. To those on margin, just try to hang in there as they're trying to shake us off the growing bean stalk.
