I always have to look up the word "hermeneutics." As I understand it, based on the dictionary definition alone, it's one word for the study of the methods, science or technique of interpretation. I think that means it's an interpretation of the interpretation of interpretation. I do think it's interesting, and important, to analyze the process of analysis, but I agree that it's important to define terms really well, otherwise it sounds like nonsense.
But as a lawyer who frequently reads people complaining about the "jargon" of law, or the "jargon" of medicine, I know that what outsiders call "jargon" I call "vocabulary."

The "H" word was totally new to me...a vocabulary opportunity, as it were!

There must be a whole WORLD out there in the Woman's Studies circles that I'm missing out on.
