ETrade Australia Ltd., the Australian unit of the No. 2 online broker in the United States, said its trading volume rose 80 percent in the final quarter of 1999. The growth in online share trading in Australia has seen the number of firms providing Internet brokerage services increase to 15. Last month, Charles Schwab Corp., the biggest U.S. online broker, said it will buy half of the online broker business of Australia's biggest online services company, ecorp Ltd.
