Great post and links KLP - about that ticker hoping it becomes serendipity for you, like if one of those similar name stocks rockets the lookalikes might fly along too (but it doesn't last long...). This happens alot around IPO's that can change ticker On The Day. Watch Out For Warrants with tickers having another letter at the end of it - not to mention the confusion that sometimes happens around transitional ticker changes and spinoffs that are WI's (When Issued) or Warrants til the shareowners payday. But the bright side is, if the mistake is good now it has an extra reason to go up if it's alike to others. Yeah gotta be careful ... sometimes thread posters will deliberately confuse the issue of a ticker too, for their own purposes one can only assume. Or i've seen confusion on threads (could be deliberate or geniune, who knows) of which is the .com when there's been a spinoff... BNBN (the .com from Barnes & Noble) and DIR (DLJ's Online Broker) are good examples of this when they keep talking about the online business on the parent's forum when it isn't anymore. Yep "Consider The Source" with DD can often lead to good directional pointers when faced with conflicting information ... tracking it down can be a pain but it might squeeze the lemon to make lemonade ... asking the question "for what purpose" can bring some interesting obscurities to the light of day such as - is it a p & d, are these some scared shorts & why, is the attention being drawn away or to which stock by whom, etc.
Looks like you could be onto something about McCaw's resurrectional influence... being there as it unfolds and gets attention when "circle the wagons" happens has been doubleplusgood a time or two for me too - Good Luck!
