Mani you don't have it quite right. You have the analyst's estimates first. That's not the way it works.

Intel says it will earn $X.
The analysts estimate Intel will earn $Y where $Y > $X
Intel reports $X, just like they said they would.
This means Intel was right and the analysts were wrong. It's the analysts who missed, not Intel.

It's really not all that complicated.
