traditional brokerages' cost structure:

"Merrill, the nation's largest brokerage, still has too many layers of management, and its costs remain bloated. For every dollar of net revenues the firm collects, a full 52.2 cents goes for compensating employees. That compares with 49.5 cents at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.
Komansky acknowledges the high costs, but he blames them in part on Merrill's rapid expansion overseas and the spending needed to maintain the firm's top-flight network of retail brokers."

Spy--thank you for correcting Mr. Usma.

And, no, Usma I didn't sell any shares in April, although obviously I should have in retrospect. I'm one of the true believers in this stock, and am an investor not a trader (I tried the latter and it didn't work for me). While you are free to glory in your dollar gains here and there shorting this stock, I don't think I'll want to trade my returns for yours in 3 years when this company's business has more fully matured.

And I'd advise you not to be short the day that E*Trade announces their quarterly business...
