Mani - <800 MHz does not count as a "high end part"?>

Yes. I've commented on the 800's in great detail.

<On the most recent issue of Computer Edge, few days old, Coppermines are EXTREMELY RARE. Only couple of vendors out of 30 or so have them. They all of PIII 600MHz and under but no Coppermines. >

And several other sources in the same time frame have reported 733's supplies have greatly improved the last few weeks. Mention those too.

I'm going to say this one last time: Shortages that are out there, are not due to the P858 ramp not meeting expectation. If there is still not enough supply to meet the overall market conditions, it is a market issue, not a technology or manufacturing one, with one caveat, the original delay may be contributing to the situation now, but that is old news.

Mani - RE: FLOPPERMINE 733 availability

You and I have no idea what is coming out of the fabs so why don't we look at a REAL WORLD situation. Petz has done the numbers for us.

Summary of systems being sold in San Diego by small computer
stores which build their own computers. The following
summarizes the types of computer systems being advertised
in the weekly ComputorEdge flyer -- a free publication in
San Diego county.

FLOPPERMINE 733 was advertised by a whole 14% of the company's advertisements in this issue. Hey!, that is the same percentage of Athlon 750 advertisements. Of course there is a catch - the AThlon 750 came out about a MONTH after FLOPPERMINE 733.
