Paul and Burt, good posts, both.

Despite Gateway, Lucent, etc warnings, I am pretty well convinced that Intel is going to report impressive revenues and profits next Thursday - the VOLUMES were up - as you noted - and the lack of any significant price cuts on older products - plus high ASPs on the new (but limited) Coppermines - which represent INCREMENTALLY ADDITIVE REVENUE - should result in an excellent quarterly report.

Either post could be sent into the SJ Mercury News, EE Times, etc., and be much more valuable, and right on, than anything else that might show up there.

Tony

Paul,

I think you are right.

Wouldn't surprise me if they have truly blowout numbers.

Great to pick up some Jan calls.

If they dump Intel down much more its gotta be a great time to buy.

regards,

Kash

Paul:
may I ask you why you went so far out on your puts. Seems to me you could have gotten decent premiums on Feb or even Mar puts...unless you are hedging the possibility of a disappointing earnings report, but a bullish one in April?
thanks in advance for your answer,

Gary

RE: "So Intel suffers the embarrassment of not having infinite capacity when demand surges, and takes the "fall" for Gateway."

Hi Paul,

Why hasn't Dell reported any shortage problem, assuming there's a shortage/allocation situation such as you describe below:

" Intel's factories, I have learned, are running at FULL CAPACITY, and where demand from PC OEMS have exceeded the OEM's forecast, Intel has been unable to match the increased demand."

Amy J
