Terry, I am with you on this. I just finished listening to the CC. Despite the negative disappointment, the tone of Mr. McGinn was one of confidence and upbeat. He was first to accept that it was a clear mis-step and a problem of execution on part of LU in delivering the hot products to the market. This is the first time they missed the estimates since IPO. He should be given the benefit of doubt and evaluate the situation in Oct. 2000. I believe they will have a stellar second half of fiscal 2000 on all fronts.

One quarter(90 days) should not make or break a company. It is sad how wallstreet has myopic view of companies and treat them mercilessly. At the same time, it gives great opportunities to buy great companies at discount. NT was treated badly in 1998 only to reward them in 1999. ASND in 1998 is another great example. I believe LU will have a similar year in 2000. It will comeback with a roar.

Lucent is off to a slow start, but should finish strong. Explosive demand in CDMA wireless, Data will drive carriers to accelerate the spending in second half of 2000. LU will get their fair share of that business.

All LU/ASNDers, hang in there for the ride from 50-100 in year 2000 with some major bumps. Those with patience and wisdom should prevail.

Regards,

BR
