No, I didn't mean it that way, but thanks for those consoling thoughts, just the same. -g-

My discussions tend to be almost entirely technologically focused, and sometimes folks who are distressed could care less about Metcalfe's Law, and I don't blame them. It is during THESE times that others' sensitive areas become exposed, which leads to exacerbated misconstrues. And I respect that.

What's that you say about shorts? Shorts? You'll have to talk with ld5030 about that. I understand he just changed his shorts, too.

Well, I just signed up for Freeworld. I already had a personal password and email with Excite, so it used that information to set up Freeworld. It "requires" one to give proper name and mailing address to sign up. I will leave that up to you if you think I did. It also asks one page of relatively simple questions, most of which i chose "do not plan to buy or already own". It also uses my excite email address to send any notifications. Thats fine by me, because I never use that email address.

The add banner is fairly unobtrusive, and download, connection, and dial in was a breeze. It will be a good back up for my cable modem.

However, I don't think Excite is going to make any more money from me.

Regards
Jay

Edit: Just ran a speed test on Freeworld. It came in at 33.6k.
