RE: "Yes, GTW is p*ssed because they couldn't get all they wanted"

Elmer,

Does that mean Gateway only "wanted" enough chips to miss earnings by seven cents? What a novel way to do business. Maybe next Qtr they'll ask for enough chips to miss by only two cents that way their faces won't be quite as red when they have to explain to the shareholders.

Elmer,
I think you are missing the point. Even if Gateway mis-ordered, Intel didn't bend over enough to help them. They didn't down-bin enough and they fire-saled low end chips to Gateway competitors who killed Gateway in the $1000 zone. They looked out for themselves rather than help an old friend. A friend that gave exclusivity to Intel. Gateway and other OEMs will not forget this...
A few 800s won't help the relationship.
Intel was penny wise and pound foolish. As was Gateway in a different way.
