Some of the problems must have been recognized earlier. For instance Dan Stanzione was "removed" from his position some months ago. Add this to the fact that Lucent's traditional businesses have long visibility to them implies mismanagement of the street expectations. I find the explanations (the fluff) to be somewhat insulting. "Can't fill the orders", then why guide down the next quarter, the year? It's not just a "Top-Line" problem either, with revenue missing by less than 20% and earnings missing by 25% to 30%. They saw this coming, no doubt in my mind.
