Its just been my experience that when the top heavy traditional companies try to ape the slimmer, younger ones with a totally different work ethics, they're never successful. Its a cultural thing. There is always the "generation gap" as exists between Nortel/LU and CSCO. They just mess up with their own niche and core competency in the process !

WMT alone would never been any threat to AMZN...and I could have bet the bank on that conviction...but I have to applaud their plan of a spin off, a separate legal entity with the VC backing........in CA too !

It will be quite a while, and quite a struggle for them but it will be interesting to watch !

As regards the EPS growth you mentioned, I'm sure you have done your homework well, but Geez, look at the relative time spans spent in brand building for both AMZN & WMT. *Now* which one looks better ??? What was the EPS for WMT when it was AMZNs age ???
