They have to be paid cash but there is no restriction for IRA accounts.>> Martin, I think you are confusing using margin to purchase options versus options being marginable. The former is clearly fine, while the latter is not. Buying options on margin is the same as taking the cash purchase price of the option out of the account. Both are fine, up to the margin limitations of the equity in the account. Hope that helps. Cooters
