I'm not sure that I agree with the perspective ...

The survey that is published is very specific about "Corporate Developers" and has several statements which seem to indicate "internal" developers ... not software development companies.

Ahh ... but to "assume" ... ;-)

Without verification, I can not "assume" that the respondents *did* fully understand the implications.

As a developer, if I were asked if I was going to write Windows 2000 applications, my answer would be "No!" for the foreseeable future. I'm going to write "Windows" applications ... nothing specific to a platform that is only going to start shipping soon ...

It would be crazy to write something now, when the bulk of my infrastructure and installed OS platforms might not be able to run it ...

I don't see conspiracy ... but I do see the potential that a lot of "rah-rah" talk about a survey is based on "assumptions" ... or talking a specific accurate statement out of context ... ;-)
