"In the earnings light, I am trying to figure out how they will handle the effective date of the handset sale."

I've been dying of curiosity about this myself. The "on the dotted line" complexities of this will certainly have a bearing on last quarter's earnings and the forwards.

I am being simplistic, but I thought they inferred that it would be booked in the first q,meaning all positive and negative charges, and that the positive effects of getting rid of the money loser wouldn't hit until the 2nd q. In other words, all accounting for it will show up in this report, and the postive effect on operating earnings will occur in the q we are currently in.

I could be wrong, but that's what I understood from listening to the cc.

And I know you know this, but others here may not be clear that Q's fiscal year started on 10/1

engineer,

It is my understanding that the sale to KYO is not going to be closed and booked until Feb, therefore, it really is not sold yet and all handset sales up to that date are QCOM's, same with the cash from KYO to buy the division, won't be recognized until the deal is closed, Feb that is...

Others can correct me.
