My conclusion, UPS and JDSU would be very likely to join S$P in the near future

I disagree in part. . I think both UPS and Goldman Sachs only went public recently and probably are good candidates. However, there may be a S and P policy to wait a while before making their decision on new public companies. I believe Goldman could have added due to the market cap and low PE but S and P will probably wait.

The only one i don't know about is the LMG/B but it may be connected to AT&T somehow (maybe someone can clarify). It probably has nothing new to add to the index anyways.

The rest on the list have a long way to go. Some may not be considered at all --such as GM class H. Nothing new to add.

JDSU looks like the best candidate although i don't mind waiting since the stock is on a roll anyways. It is the leader in its industry and that is a key factor. It is also one that is likely to have explosive moves upward in the stock price possibly applying pressure on S and P to add it before it goes over 100billion.
It will be bad public relations for S and P to force index fund managers to buy such a large company. After all this is a market cap weighted index. Therefore, their decision could also be motivated by this concern that it will mushroom into a much higher market cap.

I don't mind waiting but i think we will see the addition soon. Once it happens, we will get a lot of reluctant sellers (given the yahoo addition history) causing very sharp moves up.
There is the posibility that they could be waiting until after the anniversary of the Uniphase / JDS Fitel merger before adding but that one does not make sense to me.

JDS market cap is probably now over 60 billion and add the OCLI market cap soon---we are over 65 already. Should overtake UPS soon and Bershire is probably not a consideration anyways.

Lately a lot of smaller companies have been added---in late December. Maybe they have been setting up the "big one" for this month as everyone is off holidays. The index managers probably take their a lot of holidays in Decembers.
