That surprises me since I walked into an independently owned chain (two stores I think in Tuscon and Green Valley) to ask about plans for an aging female relative. They sold several varieties of plan, but Airtouch was prominently displayed on their storefront. Since I was the only potential customer we got to talking and shortly the manager grabbed a full page ad from a trade journal which had been lying open and folded back on his desk. I had not been contemplating entering the competition so dominated by Freekbro and did not pay attention to the name, but the guy suggested I probably wanted a G* phone. They hadn't seen one yet, but he said they had already sold one (or was it a couple) to some guy who had come in and insisted he have the first one they could get.

Maybe one of us nuts--are you in Green Valley, AZ.

I become more and more convinced that G* will be a success. Just the number of options and possibilities for use boggle my mind. Prices can and will come down. And if all else fails, I think the Q could manage to effectively utilize a few million minutes. Watch the subscriber numbers and try to create a way to maximize minute usage on the first terminal units. I guess the half price minute through Feb 15 plan is a decent unsophisticated start.

Let's have a few more of the half baked published announcements that G* can't become profitable as I would like to buy some more if the price would just get down to the $20's again.
