Thanks, Bob. It's good to have someone on this thread who actually knows something about the industry (in contrast to yours truly).

But while WC may not be strictly comparable to Ariba, since they serve different functions (one production, one procurement), aren't they in fact comparable in a broader sense, namely, that both bring the interconnectivity of the internet to bear on long-standing business problems? I'm just guessing here, but it seems to me further that the procurement functions are easier to rationalize in this way than design and manufacturing, simply because they involve far fewer steps and fewer people. And if implementation is more difficult and risky, acceptance is that farther off. The flip side is that the opportunity would be so much greater.
