Perhaps our definition of "internet" company is different. I suspect that there will be a transition where margins get smacked around a bit, but if implemented correctly, I believe that cost of business will decrease correspondingly. The part of the internet sector that gets the most visibility is retail, which traditional has pretty slim margins. I think that retail is a fractional part of the internet opportunity.

>once all businesses are internet co's, profit margins will finally drop
>to zero....great for consumers.

I minored in economics in college. So forgive me if I am wildly off base- but doesnt this mean we'll end up with a socialist economic system "by the back door" ?

Stalin tried it with tanks, but maybe the internet will finally squeeze out all the profitable inefficiecies of capitalism... And if profits are low, or zero, does capitalism really exist anymore?

Hell, to go one step further, in the world of "star trek" money doesn't even exist because material needs are practically free and ALL information is available to anyone that wants it. I guess they're socialist, according to the definition.
