I think there must have been an upgrade for this strength.

I just bought 200 Jan 40's for $1 5/16.

Just in case we go apeshit.

I still expect some downside but just couldn't wait.

One clear argument relatively favoring AMD is the ratio of market capitalizations between AMD and Intel. Somewhere around sixty times, no? I personally don't think there is a sixty-fold difference in value between the two companies; leading me to believe that a doubling of AMD's stock price is not at all farfetched.
