Nice article about SNDK's Personal Information Carrier in today's San Diego paper. The article says the govt. has ordered $35 million in tags initially. (There was probably a company release about this posted here earlier, but it's nice to see it in print.)

Thread--Re Circuit City and GM

1. The Sony/Circuit City tieup--It would be very surprising if a retailer turned down any request by a major consumer name to place a product in its stores. The stores are an extension of Sony's marketing activities. Therefore, the significance of a Sony/Circuit City tieup is marginal, imo.

2. The SanDisk/Circuit City announcement--Somewhat more significant, primarily because of what it says for growing production capacity. It also validates SanDisk's growing position as a consumer name.

3. GM--GM management doesn't understand the importance of Value Chains in technology development. They choose vendors to give them "complete" solutions. Thus, Johnson Controls might get the contract to supply a complete interior for one of their models. They're doing the same thing in this case, not recognizing that the bulk of the audio and flash industries are arrayed against them. And not realizing how important that is for product development.

Just some thoughts.

Best,
JS
