PRESS RELEASE: Celeritek CDMA
Amplifier Available

( BW)(CA-CELERITEK)(CLTK) Celeritek Announces InGaP HBT CDMA
Amplifier; PCS TrueTriangle Handset Power Amplifier Module
Ideal for Expanding $3.9B Wireless Market

Business Editors/Technology Writers

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2000--Celeritek,
Inc. (NASDAQ: CLTK) announced today March availability of a new CDMA
50 Ohm matched 6mm square power amplifier module for PCS, wireless local
loop and other high bandwidth wireless data markets. Celeritek's new InGaP
HBT amplifier module is less then half the size of comparable solutions,
integrates (14) supporting components, and has been specifically developed to
meet the continuing requirements for small, low-cost, high capacity wireless
voice and data applications.

"The CHP1232-PM power module gives CDMA designers a unique compact
solution for wireless applications. It is the result of focused effort from many
Celeritek personnel and brings to market an easy to implement solution utilizing
InGaP HBT technology. Celeritek's core competence of linear efficiency is
amplified via the strength of InGaP. High capacity voice and data transmission
at low voltage can be best achieved with this single supply technology. The
CHP1232-PM is the first of a complete line of TrueTriangle(TM) power
modules addressing a wireless component market Strategies Unlimited, a
Mountain View, Calif. market research firm, predicts will grow from $3.9B in
1999 to $7.7B in 2004," said Bill Hoppin, Vice President of Sales and
Marketing.

Model CHP1232-PM is a linear efficient 3-stage power amplifier developed
for PCS CDMA handsets and infrastructure systems, WCDMA 3G handsets
and wireless local loop (WLL) subscriber units that operate in the 1.85 to 1.91
GHz frequency range. Typical features include operation as low as 3.2 volts
from a single positive supply, 30 dB gain at operating output power, 35% linear
power added efficiency, and +28 dBm output power (IS-98 CDMA mode).
Measuring only 6mm square x 1.7mm high it provides excellent electrical
stability and low thermal resistance. Reduced circuit board space and cost is
further achieved due to minimum matching elements (eliminating as many as 14
external elements) and no negative supply. This significantly reduces valuable
circuit board space by as much as 1/2 that of currently available solutions.

A Data Sheet of the amplifier contains specifications, applications, circuit design
considerations, recommended application schematic as well as ordering
information. Samples of CHP1232-PM will be available in March, 2000 in bulk
and in tape-and-reel. Celeritek's complete in-house manufacturing capability
guarantees quality and reliability in each step of the production process. Volume
quantities are priced at $7.00 per unit. Please e-mail direct product inquiries for
TrueTriangle(TM) HBT modules to: truetriangle@celeritek.com

Celeritek designs and develops products using MESFET, pHEMT, and most
recently HBT GaAs processes tailored to support high capacity broadband
wireless applications. Celeritek is a leading provider of GaAs based RF
integrated circuits (RFICs) for use in wireless voice and data applications. The
Company's products are used worldwide by leading manufacturers of wireless
communication systems.

Keith,

The implication is not just GM or other car manufacturers use CDMA phones on their future car models. It is the pressure that NXTL, GSM carriers, and T receive on this PR if it is true.

How much capital do they need to upgrade their current systems to compete with CDMA carriers?

Brian H.
