Stan - I agree that they obviously sold more than "odds and ends." I think I used the phrase "some odd assets" or similar, along with the rather vaguely referenced chunk of the scanning services business. I assume GE paid SMS for the radiography panels developed as part of the NIST project (jeez, it's tough to remember back to when I actually knew this stuff a year or two ago <g>), which were valuable assets that couldn't be sold while the project was still alive. I seem to recall that Byron was our foremost authority on the panels, having spoken to Howard Burris about them.

But everyone here has grasped the equally obvious bottom line: this company is once again alive and well. It now has the ability to pay its vendors, and perhaps even hire some new employees. And if Howard Burris meets with a potential customer, that customer can have confidence that SMS again has the means to deliver what it promises and that its CEO knows how to get things done. -Eric

Stan:

As I began reading the news release I started to become unimpressed also. I learned to stop reading them things and use my intuition more. It helps. What you don't know can't hurt you.

Stan,
Since the NIST project didn't work out, you're probably right that we're not going to make the big bucks that we were all hoping for on this stock. Still, the company's technology is very powerful. I know the technical people at SMS are very excited about the new product that was demo'd last fall. I view yesterday's announcement as an important step in bringing the tech to market. We're not going to do as well as the people who got in under a dime, but I think we may still wind up making some money on this stock. Howard Burris owns 2 million shares and I know that he's worked very hard to make this company a success. I'm starting to like his chances more and more. I'm continuing to hold all of my shares.
