Based on my interpretation of the worldwide CDMA subscription data, the tornado began one year before the Ericsson settlement.

I agree with Mike's assessment as to the start of the Tornado. I think the more important point is when should you have invested in Q?

The seminal event was the settlement of the Ericsson suit. Once that happened, it was safe to invest, and the profit picture changed, due to the sale of the division. Mike posted that event, and I started buying immediately, because I:

1) Knew the company from a previous purchase, and

2) Had decided, in January, to invest once the suit was settled.

This gave me a jump on the rest of the crowd here. I had already decided to pull the trigger once the situation met my criteria.

We have had several discussions, on the Q thread, with long-term holders that said we should have got in sooner. Most of us here disagree. Texas Juries, (which is where the suit was being tried), are famous for bad decisions in business lawsuits. Ericsson could have prevailed, even though Q was right.

Deciding when to invest in Gorillas and Kings is an art, not a science. We try to reduce the odds as much as possible here. Look at the disagreement on Gemstar. I think it is too soon, others have jumped in. Same, only more so, on Rambus, Exodus, etc.

Those who get in early on these possible tornadoes, and turn out to be right, will get on this thread and chide the rest of us for being too timid.

But we old bulls would rather "walk down the hill and get em all!"
