You have never responded to the question: Seeing as Compaq dislikes Intel and loves AMD, why did Compaq choose CuMine for their x86 workstation and forego using the Athlon? Why did Compaq choose to use the Intel compiler when running their SPEC benchmarks? Why didn't they simply use the Athlon if it performs better and they hate Intel anyway? I put it to you, given the choice, they chose the CuMine over the Athlon because it was clear to them that the CuMine outperformed the Athlon. Even with their dislike for Intel, the CuMine was the better choice and they couldn't deny it.
