Neocon:<<If you make a big noise about the superiority of a "culture", but have comparatively little interest in it, then it is worth mentioning. Since Mr. Conrad has had more than a few posts that indicate that he is a racist and anti- semite, it is no stretch to place him in a redneck milieu.... >> My understanding of the word "redneck", is that it denotes a white person who works outdoors. While it's true that a person who engages in manual labor often has little time to devote to cultural pursuits, it's unfair to lump them together as some stereotype...that's the seed of racism. <<We originated in the city- states of the Tigris- Euphrates and the kingdoms of the Nile. >> I know that's the story-line promulgated in schools, but I disagree. The systems of government and institutions employed by Western society had their roots in the Greeks. The earlier civilizations offered other things of value, but the basis of Western thought and culture were products of the Greeks, IMHO. Why these systems arose in a white culture, and remained primarily a white phenomena, is not clear to me...but there may be some racial influence. But then again, it hasn't done so well in Russia.<g> <<. But I certainly know how many angels can dance on the head of a pin: an infinite number, because angels, being creatures of intellectual substance, have position but not extension, and therefore do not take up any space......... >> That conjures an image...all those angels mingling...and here I thought sex was the ultimate physical expression of intimacy...and I guess it would still be so - but I love your projection...a transcendental orgy of angels.<g>
