Mike, Intel posted record unit shipments for microprocessors, motherboards, and other products of IABG. Ashok Kumar estimates Intel sold more than 31M processors in Q4 1999, compared to 25M a year before. Intel also reports higher gross margin and higher average selling prices. By all indications, this looks like a growth of Intel's core business to me.

But all you want to look at is one line on the accounting form. One line that even the analysts see, but haven't asked about. I suspect the analysts know the same thing I do, that Intel shifted some business out of IABG. I think Intel already said they did this back in Q2 1999.

But if you think Intel is violating regulations and cooking the books, by all means report it to the SEC. Speaking of which, LU dropped today because of rumors that the SEC will be investigating them for its accounting practices ( dailynews.yahoo.com ) Maybe you can create the same rumors for INTC and make a fortune on your puts.

Good luck!
