Dan,

Do a search on your C: drive for "iomonitor" to see what folder it turns up in (I don't have it on my computer).

Also if you're running win98 you can use msconfig (which you will find in Windows/System) to choose which programs you don't want to start up automatically when you boot (choose "selective startup" and then choose the "startup" tab).

Sounds like you might have found the problem since the mouse is input and io (as in iomonitor) is probably for input/output.

when it started today I did a Ctrl Alt Del and terminated one process called iomonitor (or something like that. I'll have to boot again to be sure.)

The thing I killed is called iomon98.exe, from Trend PC-cillin, a virus protection package. As someone else here noted, "io" was a pretty good hint; that's why I picked that one to kill. I assume this is the program that is constantly checking input data for viruses. Other virus protection programs probably have a similar background process. If the graphics acceleration doesn't fix me up, I will run w/o this protection when all I'm doing is trading. I'm fairly confident the things I am running are safe. The trick is to keep them running smoothly.
