Perhaps the willingness of Asian companies to build relationships with Qcom arises from the traditional cultural instinct towards "team working" and seeking concensus rather than the Western bias towards outright competition and individualism. Perhaps Asian culture better prepared it for the new tech environment, which is so dependent on relationship building, joint ventures, etc.
