"What about selling OTM calls?" I'm out of my depth here but it seems to me that if one wanted income and didn't want to sell, then one could sell uncovered puts. If the stock price drops and the buyer wants to exercise the put one could borrow on margin and temporarily hold the stock until it recovers. Most of the time the OTM put would not be exercised because we would be selling puts on great stocks like QCOM,NTAP,etc. Of course there has to be a reasonable limit on the potential obligation. What do people think?
Wouldn't selling OTM calls on a gorilla most of the time result in having to sell it? The whole idea is not to have to sell and pay taxes, right?
