I agree about the lost opportunity for Intel. Reminds me of when AOL was on the ropes in the early to mid 90's and MSFT had the chance to buy them out. Problem was Gates' arrogance at the time. He told Case "I can buy one third or you, or I can buy all of you, or I can go in the same business and shut you down." He chose the third route, with his MSN service. History will record that as one of the greatest tech blunders of the 90's. Maybe Intel will be the second.

You know, comparisons are often made to Intel. JDSU has been called Intel of fiberoptics. But I don't really see that Intel could buy QCOM and understand how to parlay it. I think it would be terrible. Ihope the company stays independent. IBM and MSFT were both making OS's. But Intel makes PC chips and QCOM makes wireless chips. I see them as very different companies.
