When we implemented a portfolio management strategy that dictated selling some Qualcomm, an implementation that by coincidence was required at the same time that we began retirement management, we ended up with 7 years' living expenses.

You did it with planning, I did it gut, and we have ended up at the same numbers, Mike! I am setting aside one mil cash, and keeping the rest invested, you are doing pretty near the same.

I will probably run through that in 4 years. More on that later, as I unveil "The Good Life" in LA for me.

Mike,

Couldn't help to comment on your "wife's diamond needs."

Read "The Millionaire Next Door" recently. If I remember correctly, one of the key characteristics of all the wealthy millionaires noted was that their spouse was somewhat frugal.

Wish I was so lucky...already on diamond #3 at age 31.

Geez.

Hi mike

Nice strategy and quite close to mine down the road with the difference that,I can't afford to retire, because my newly wed wife does not work. I am really keen on having her finish college, because no one knows what the future holds and there is no substitute for education.Your conservative approach on investing is very sound and realistic.I did not take any of the facilities that one can use to withdraw from my brokerage account.Basically, I look at my stock holdings as untouchable for the next 5 to 7 years and my work covers all the expenses.Expects to me around here for some years to come.

Sincerely,

Shahram
