I tell almost everyone I meet who wants to discuss personal finance about the anecdotal evidence showing that those who write their goals down (or in this age, type them into a computer) are more likely to accomplish them than those who don't. Janet's method of writing them down is certainly the most creative method I've ever heard of: I wrote a check to myself in the amount of $2 million, with a date certain in the not too distant future. When acquaintences ask about recommendations about handling personal finance issues, I now have another to add to the list. --Mike Buckley
