You are, IMO, so incredibly ignorant of the facts that it is impossible for anyone to have an intelligent conversation with you about this subject, these taxes in particular, taxes in general, the benefits paid by this program, the historical basis for any of the above, or the possible consequences of changing the system or allowing it to remain as it is now structured.

I think you're confusing wealth with income on being well off.

Elderly couple - $500k in assets.
Home $300k
Bank CDs paying 4% $200k
Pension $6k

A pair of your young workers' assets
$15k in savings
$50k in the market
Two salaries over $100k

Now the elderly are wealthier by $435k but have less income by $186k.

It's the income that will determine who's living well.
