Re The way CMGI dealt with the holding company or mutual fund issue:

CMGI acknowledged this was a big deal about a year ago and then acquired sufficient assets of operating companies to deal with the issue. This spurred the Altavista acquisition in large part, if my recollection is correct. And, CMGI has really been trying to become an operating company. I think that when its stock was in the toilet last year (hard to remember that it was, isn't it?) it reflected the difficulty of dealing with this issue. I believe that ICGE got a waiver from the SEC on the mutual fund issue for (12 mos or 18 mos?).

Linda--I think about your advice, turn off the tv set during downturns, often. Funny thing met with a hedge fund manager the other day and asked him what does he do during choppy markets like these. He said he tries to sit on his hands. Made me laugh. He also said and I found this interesting that he holds a core position in a stock but adds to it when he perceives the market is low and sales from it when he perceives the market is high.

Good evening from Europe! Without wishing to spoil the show in any manner (I cheer for a long awaited entry of Softbank into the B2B), perhaps someone can explain why this joint venture with ICGE-owned Vertical Net takes place at the incredibly low level of $4 million! Think of ICGE's current cap. 10,000 times that size! There's got to be a mistake.
